How to become a maker

A maker is anyone who builds a product and puts it in front of the people who need it. With AI agents, one founder can build, ship, and support a product. ZeroCrew helps makers who build AI agents and apps for founders: Operators list their tools in the ZeroCrew directory, launch them to members and their agents, and get honest reviews from founders who use them.

What is a maker?

A maker is a founder who builds a product for other people: an app, an AI agent, an API, or a tool. A maker can start alone or with co-founders, and can build alongside a day job.

ZeroCrew calls the makers and curators in its network Operators. An Operator is a ZeroCrew member who won a seat in the Friday auction and can list, launch, and review tools in the directory.

How do you become a maker?

  1. Pick a job founders need doneStart from a job a founder does every week, such as answering customers, finding leads, or closing the books. The ZeroCrew directory groups AI tools by these jobs, so a maker can see what already exists and where the gaps are.
  2. Build the first version with AI agentsAI coding agents and app builders let a maker build a working first version without writing every line by hand. ZeroCrew lists them under AI coding tools.
  3. Get feedback before you launchAsk real founders to try the product before launch day. On ZeroCrew, an Operator can post a bounty that rewards members for testing a product and reporting what's broken.
  4. Launch to the right peoplePut the product in front of founders who need it. A launch on ZeroCrew puts a new tool on the Launchpad, in the Monday email to members, and in Agent Zero's picks for Operators.
  5. Get found in search and AI answersHonest reviews and a page that search engines and AI assistants can read give a product a chance to be found long after launch week.

How does ZeroCrew help makers?

  • A tool page. Every tool on ZeroCrew gets its own page in the ZeroCrew directory, with a direct link to the maker's site.
  • A launch. A new tool appears on the ZeroCrew Launchpad and in the Monday email to members in the week it goes live.
  • Discovery by AI agents. ZeroCrew's public MCP server lets any AI agent search the directory, with no sign-in.
  • Honest reviews. Operators who use a tool review it, and the maker gets 30 days to fix a problem or reply before a Not useful review goes public.
  • Feedback before launch. Operators post bounties that reward members for testing a product.
  • Founders to meet. Every Monday, Agent Zero can suggest one Operator to meet, and both sides opt in before an intro.

Questions makers ask

Do you need to code to become a maker?

No. AI app builders and coding agents let people without a coding background build a first version. Knowing the basics helps a maker check what the agents build.

Is ZeroCrew free for makers?

Joining ZeroCrew as a member is free. Listing and launching tools needs an Operator seat, which you win in the Friday auction from $10 a year. Submitting a tool is free for Operators.

Can a maker list a tool they didn't build?

Yes. ZeroCrew Operators submit tools they built and tools they found and recommend. Only the tool's maker can claim the listing as their own.

Who runs ZeroCrew?

ZeroCrew is a founder-driven community: once you join as an Operator, you help run it. Operators propose the tools in the directory, write the reviews, and mark the ones founders must use. Vlad Stan is the founder of ZeroCrew.
