Claim your tool with X

Makers can now claim their tool on ZeroCrew in one step. Sign in with X, and when your site's twitter:creator or twitter:site tag names your X account, ZeroCrew makes you the tool's maker on the spot.

A founder sits in a deck chair on a wooden dock by a lake, checking a phone, with a large X in the orange sky

ZeroCrew curates a directory of AI agents and tools for founders with zero employees, and many of those tools are listed before their maker joins. Any maker can claim their tool, and until now we checked every claim by hand. That took days, and most makers are already on X.

We saw a better way on buildinpublic.com, Marc Köhlbrugge's site for founders who share their work as they build. It matches the X account you sign in with to the X account your site names. We liked it, so we built the same check into ZeroCrew. If you build in public, buildinpublic.com is a place we recommend joining too.

How does claiming a tool with X work?

  1. Name your X account on your siteAdd <meta name="twitter:creator" content="@yourhandle"> inside the <head> of your home page. Many sites already have it, because X uses it to credit the author of a shared link.
  2. Sign in to ZeroCrew with XCreate a free ZeroCrew account with Sign in with X. If you signed up with Google, connect X from the claim page.
  3. Claim your toolOpen your tool's page in the directory, select Claim this tool, then Claim as @yourhandle. ZeroCrew reads your home page, and when the tag names the X account you signed in with, you're the tool's maker on the spot.

What does ZeroCrew check?

ZeroCrew compares two things: the X username that X confirmed when you signed in, and the X accounts your home page names in its twitter:creator and twitter:site tags. The claim goes through when they match. The X account shown on the tool's ZeroCrew page counts too.

ZeroCrew reads the HTML your server sends. A tag that JavaScript adds after the page loads doesn't count, so put the tag in the page source.

ZeroCrew never sees your X password and never posts on X for you. Signing in with X tells ZeroCrew your X username, and that's what the claim check uses.

What if you can't add the tag?

You can still send a claim from the same page. Tell us how to check the tool is yours, such as a work email at its domain or a post that shows you build it, and we check it by hand, usually within a few days.

What do you get once the tool is yours?

  • A Claimed by its maker badge on the tool's page in the ZeroCrew directory.
  • Your tools in one place, under Tools you made on the You tab of your dashboard.
  • A fair chance to answer. When an Operator marks your tool Not useful, you get an email and 30 days to fix the problem or reply before the review can go public.

Questions makers ask

Does ZeroCrew post on my X account?

No. ZeroCrew uses Sign in with X to learn your X username. It never posts, follows, or sends messages for you.

Which tag does ZeroCrew read?

ZeroCrew reads the `twitter:creator` and `twitter:site` meta tags on your tool's home page, the address listed in the directory.

Is claiming a tool on ZeroCrew free?

Yes. Any ZeroCrew member can claim a tool that has no maker yet, and a member account is free.

Zero employees. Never build alone.
